Your three step process

  1. Understand your stories (this also relates to your inner critic workshop)
  2. Interrupt the rumination cycle
  3. Reframe into action

Step 1: Understand your stories

Common imposter thoughts and fears:

  • I don’t belong here
  • I'm just faking it until I'm found out
  • I'm not as smart/talented as everyone else
  • I got lucky
  • I'm going to fail
  • People will realise I'm a fraud

Step 2: Interrupt the rumination cycle

Ask, Is that the truth?

Identify alternative stories that are also true.

  • File positive emails in your new 'positive stories' folder
  • Record successes, wins and verbal feedback in your new word document
  • Refer to them when you are challenged by imposter thoughts

Step 3: Reframe into action

Challenge your imposter thoughts with an alternative truth and use that to push you to action.

The more you do this, the quieter your inner critic gets and the easier it becomes to move into action.

We’re not aiming for perfection. We’re aiming to build the muscle of using the 3 steps and really recognise what stories are holding you back.
